Bobbi Broome
Bobbi Broome is a Los Angeles-based Film Festival Programmer, Event Coordinator, and Executive Assistant with a BA in Psychology from Kent State University (Class of 2019) and an MFA in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California (Class of 2023).
Bobbi is passionate about uplifting underrepresented voices in cinema, particularly stories centered on the intersectional experiences of Black women and children across the diaspora. She brings this commitment to her work as a Film Festival Programmer, curating thought-provoking films that challenge, inspire, and engage audiences.
Currently, Bobbi serves as Executive Assistant to the CEO & Programming Associate at NICE CROWD, producers of the American Black Film Festival, where she balances creative and logistical responsibilities. She tracks industry trends, curates and evaluates film and TV content, develops festival panels, and oversees programming logistics. She is instrumental in ensuring successful event execution and collaborates closely with designers, screeners, and industry professionals to deliver engaging programming.
Her previous roles include Festival Coordinator, Programming, for the Sundance Film Festival, where she supported programming initiatives, managed schedules, and coordinated participant engagement. Bobbi has also programmed for the Pan-African Film Festival, DTLA Film Festival, Cinequest, Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival, and Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival.
In addition to programming, Bobbi has coordinated high-profile events such as NuitNoire Los Angeles and the Palm Springs ShortFest Forum, showcasing her expertise in managing complex logistics and fostering meaningful experiences for attendees.
While her primary focus is programming, Bobbi’s early career in cinematography helped her develop a deep understanding of visual storytelling. Her credits include directing Make Me Divine (2019), a finalist at the ConnectHER Film Festival, and A Proper Education (2023), her first documentary short. She has also worked with companies like Netflix, VH1, and Issa Rae Productions.
Bobbi’s skills include film curation, event coordination, programming logistics, administrative support, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. When she’s not working, Bobbi enjoys roller skating, practicing her flute, and exploring new cultural and cinematic trends.
With a love for cinema and a dedication to showcasing impactful stories, Bobbi aspires to continue programming for top-tier festivals and create transformative film experiences for audiences worldwide.
